Roofer Job Description

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Roofer to join our team, responsible for installing, repairing, and replacing roofs on residential and commercial buildings. The ideal candidate has a strong work ethic, is comfortable working at heights, and is committed to quality craftsmanship and safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Installation and Repair: Install, repair, or replace roofs using various materials, including shingles, tiles, metal, asphalt, and flat roof systems.
• Inspection and Estimation: Inspect roofs to determine the best course of action for repair or replacement, measure roofs, and estimate the necessary materials and labor.
• Preparation: Remove old or damaged roofing materials, clear debris, and prepare surfaces for new application.
• Weatherproofing: Install components such as underlayment, vapor barriers, insulation, and flashing to ensure the roof is durable and watertight.
• Safety Compliance: Set up scaffolding, ladders, and hoisting equipment safely, strictly adhering to all OSHA regulations and company safety standards.
• Documentation and Communication: Document job progress, report any issues, and communicate clearly with supervisors and customers regarding the scope of work and project status.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Experience: Proven experience as a roofer, or in a similar construction/carpentry role.
• Technical Knowledge: Working knowledge of various roofing systems, materials, tools (e.g., roofing nailer, shingle cutters), and local building codes.
• Physical Ability:
• Ability to lift and carry materials and tools up to 50 pounds.
• Comfortable working at heights for extended periods and in various weather conditions.
• Excellent physical stamina, balance, and mobility (climbing, bending, kneeling).
• Certifications: High school diploma or GED preferred. Completion of a roofing apprenticeship or a relevant trade license may be required (check local ordinances).
• Other: Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
